Day 01: Arrival Cochin
On arrival at Kochi (Cochin), our assistants will meet you at the airport / railway station and help you in transfer to your hotel.
Check in at the hotel. Relax for some time.
Kochi: It is the finest natural harbor made by a flood in AD 1341 due to which an estuary was opened up. Till then, it was a land locked region. It became the first European town-ship in India when the Portuguese settled here in the 15th century AD. Today, there are nearly thirteen communities living in the city.
In the early evening, proceed for a private harbor cruise. Enjoy watching the dolphins, the fishing island and the Bolghatty Palace. Cruise till the mouth of the sea and bask the sunset.
Overnight will be at Cochin.
Day 2: Cochin
Breakfast will be at the hotel. Start for sightseeing tour of the city.
Visit the Jew Town to the Paradesi Synagogue and International Pepper Exchange.
Also visit the Chinese Fishing Nets, Vasco Da Gama Square, Santa Cruz Basilica, St. Francis Church, VOC Gate, Bastion Bungalow and Mattancherry Palace.
In the evening, enjoy the Kathakkali Dance Presentation. Over night stay at hotel.
Day 3: Cochin to Thekkady
By Road 180 km in 4 hr
Breakfast in the hotel. Check out and proceed for Thekkady.
Periyar National Park: It is home to nomadic tribes of wild elephant, boar, deer and Indian tiger.
On arrival, check in at the hotel. Relax for some time.
In the evening, go for boat cruise in the lake to spot wild animals.
Overnight stay will be at Periyar.
Day 4: Periyar
Breakfast in the hotel. Enjoy a half-day nature walk with an expert guide in Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary.
In the afternoon, visit Spice Plantations of cardamom, cinnamon and pepper and Coffee and Tea Gardens. On the way back to your hotel, you may stop at the local market to pick up fresh and fragrant spices.
Overnight stay will be at Periyar.
Day 5: Periyar - Kumarakom
By Road 130 km in 4 hr
Breakfast in the hotel. Check out and proceed to Kumarakom. En-route visit the Tea Factory to see the process of making tea and Rubber Plantations.
On arrival at Kumarakom, visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. Proceed to the Vembanad Lake.
Kumarakom: It is located on the Vembanad Lake is 10 km from Kottayam. The land at Kumarakom seems to be divided into a series of islands formed due to a comprehensive network of canals and lakes. You will soon realize that there is only one island formed because of the backwaters.
Check into a traditional houseboat of Kerala and go on a leisurely backwater cruise along the lake. The houseboat is equipped with all modern comforts. Enjoy you lunch, dinner and breakfast in the houseboat. The houseboat will anchor at Vembanad Lake for the night.
Overnight will be at Houseboat.
Day 6: Backwaters
Breakfast on the houseboat. Cruise will begin with a short stop over at Aryad Church and Pathiramanal.
Lunch will be on the houseboat. Visit the Bird Sanctuary. Finally the boat will anchor at Kottayam, the Land of Lakes.
Overnight will be at Houseboat.
Day 7: Alleppey
Breakfast on the houseboat. Start your journey towards Kanjipadam, Pallthuruthi, and Kuppapuram to see local village life of the people settled on both side of this narrow canal.
Disembark from the houseboat at Alleppey.
Alleppey: Also known as Alappuzha, it is famous for its boat races, houseboats, coir products, fish and lakes. Kuttanad, called the 'Rice Bowl of Kerala', in Alappuzha is one of few places in the world where farming is done below sea level.
Drive through the bridges over canals and passing through the villages to reach the airport in time for flight to the next destination.
