Tour Preface:
Bhubaneshwar is the starting point to travel
into the tribal belt of Orissa. This specially designed
Compass Tribal Tour With Calcutta Raj Experience visits
the various tribal villages like Baliguda, Rayagada,
Jeypore, Taptapani where we see the primitive Kutia
Kondh Tribe, the Dingaria Kondh Tribe, Bonda Tribe Sanaparoja
and Mali Tribes. The tour is meeting and mixing with
these tribes and learning their life-style. The stay
during the tribal tour is in lodges and in basic guesthouses.
You also explore Kolkata with Compass and enjoy the
City Of Joy. One should not expect any luxury. The entry
and exit point have been assumed as Kolkata but one
can also use any other international gateway city in
India.
Day 01 Friday: Arrival Calcutta
Calcutta - Bhubaneshwar

Departure: 1315 hr
Arrival: 1410 hr
You will be met on arrival at the International airport.
Transfer to your hotel. Relax. Calcutta, now
named Kolkata is one of the oldest cities of
India and used to be the British Capital of India. Once
it was a flourishing city and port before Bombay gained
importance. It is rightly named "The city of Joy" as
the city is known to be home for the homeless from the
perched villages of Eastern India.

Take the evening flight to Bhubaneshwar. Reach
and transfer to hotel.
Overnight will be in Bhubaneshwar.
Day 02 Saturday: Bhubaneshwar
Breakfast will be at the hotel. Proceed for half-day
tour of the city.
Bhubaneshwar is the capital city of the modern state
and ancient Kingdom of Kalinga. Morning post breakfast
depart for full day sightseeing covering Lingraja
Temple of Shiva and Mukteshwara Temple.
Overnight will be at Bhubaneshwar.
Day 03 Sunday: Bhubaneshwar - Ratnagiri - Bhubaneshwar
Proceed for a full day excursion to Ratnagiri after
breakfast.
At Ratangiri two large Monasteries, a huge stupa,
Buddhist shrines and several sculptures were surfaced.
At Lalitgiri a series of brick pagoda, stone
porches, prayer halls and Buddhist images were unearthed.
Overnight will be at Bhubaneshwar.
Day 04 Monday: Bhubaneshwar - Baliguda
Drive to Baliguda after breakfast.
Baliguda is in the district of Phulbani, through
the beautiful countryside road full with small mountains
of Sal forest, one of the entry points to the tribal
highland of Orissa. En-route visit typical Orissa villages.
Arrive at the hotel in the evening. Overnight will be
at Baliguda.
Day 05 Tuesday: Baliguda - Belghar - Kothagarh -
Rayagada
After breakfast you will depart to Belghar area
for visit of Huttiya Kondha Tribal Villages &
Weekly Market at Kothagarh.
Proceed to explore the villages of the primitive Kutia
Kondh Tribes, once famous for the human sacrifice.
Living in the mountain / forest cores are friendly tribal
community. You can take small/ long trek as you wish.

Lunch will be on the way. Drive down to Rayaguda.
Arrive in the evening. Overnight will be at Rayagada.
Day 06 Wednesday: Rayagada - Jeypore
Morning proceed to Chatikona (40 km) to witness
the Interesting & colorful weekly market of the Dongaria
Kondh Tribes.
This day the interesting ornamental Tribes come down
from their mountain will known as Niayamgiri hill range.
This is a unique opportunity to witness them before
they come and mix with other community in the market,
so we will take you 2/3 km from the market near the
Niyamgiri hill, so to watch & enjoy these communities
coming down with different kinds of fruits, animal etc.
Spend time in the market. Overnight will be at Jeypore.
Day 07 Thursday: Jeypore - Unkadelli - Lamptaput
- Jeypore
After early breakfast proceed to Ankadelli -
70 km to witness the most primitive, interesting & unique
tribal weekly market of the Bonda tribes. The
place is the border of the neighboring state of Andhra
Pradesh, divided by river Machkund, with interest waterfall,
mountain & forest.
You can go inside for about 2/3km walk to witness the
Bonda man & woman coming down from the forest side.
It is being considered that at present Bondas is the
most primitive tribe of India or otherwise known as
the Nakate tribes of the mountain. Bonda women with
their silver & brass rings around the neck, hundred
of necklaces on the body, shaved hair a small cloth
wrapped down to cover half of the private areas are
out of any history book. In the other side the Bonda
men with their bow & arrow with country made liquor
is a fascinating one to watch. Photography in the market
is restricted, so you can take photo on this time.
Spend time in the market. Proceed in the afternoon to
Lamtaput area to explore another primitive tribal
community of the Gdabas - you can watch the most
colorful tribal dance call Demsa.
In the late afternoon drive back to Jeypore. Overnight
will be at Jeypore.
Day 08 Friday: Jeypore - Kunduli - Nandapur - Jeypore
After breakfast proceed to witness the biggest tribal
weekly market of Sanaparoja & Mali tribes in Kunduli
65 km away via Sunabeda. It is a very colorful market.
Later drive down to Nandapur to visit village of Sanaparoja
tribes. Visit village Khilus, Saana Padar, Bada
Padar with small trekking and later drive down to
Jeypore.
Day 09 Saturday: Gupteshwar Excursion
Proceed to Gupteshwar (70 km) to visit the villages
of very interesting Dhuruba tribe. Visit and
walk through villages of Ramanguda, Dogariguda, Silpader,
Talur etc. There is an interesting tribe where the
males like to put ornaments living in the border of
Madhya Pradesh. Visit the Cave Temple of lord
Shiva in the hidden mountain famous among the tribes.
Later drive down to Nuagaon to witness the beautiful
tribal weekly market of Sana Paroja and then
back to Jeypore.
Overnight will be at Jeypore.
Day 10 Sunday: Laxmipur Excursion (Jeypore-Laxmipur-Rayagada)

Breakfast will be in the hotel.
Visit Dhuruba Tribe, Laxmipur, of the Bondas
Region. Also Visit Jagannath Temple & Tribal
Museum at Koraput (The Jagannath Temple is a new
temple built on 1972. Here Non Hindus are allowed inside
the Temples and all activities are similar to Jagnnath
Temple of Puri).
Overnight will be at Rayagada.
Day 11 Monday: Rayagada - Taptapani - Gopalpur
Breakfast will be at hotel. Proceed to Gopalpur.
Visit Taptapani on your way. Enjoy the nature
close to your heart and carry the memory years to come.
Visit the hot spring, which till dates the local habitat
use on a mark of Blessing.
Another popular beach resort is Gopalpur-on-Sea,
170 km from Bhubaneshwar, and 15 km from Berhampur.
This is a perfect beach, fairly isolated and undisturbed
by day-trippers. This place is good for both sailing
and surfing.
Overnight will be at Gopalpur.
Day 12 Tuesday: Gopalpur - Chilka - Puri
Morning post breakfast leave for Chilka Lake,
spread over an area of 1,100-sq-km, the glorious stretch
of the Chilika is Asia's largest brackish water lake.
Home to thousands of colorful birds throughout the year,
it is particularly noisy with the din of the raucous
influx of migratory birds, which descend on it from
as far off as Siberia in winter.
Drive to Puri and reach by evening.
Puri is not only one of India's holiest pilgrimage
centers, it is also gifted with a fabulous coastline
and lovely beaches. The beaches here are ideal for beach
sports but swimming is not recommended unless in the
company of a lifeguard, who wears yellow conical caps.
The rough seas don't even allow many water sports. Overnight
will be in Puri.
Day 13 Wednesday: Puri
Breakfast will be in the hotel.
Proceed for a tour of Puri after breakfast covering
Jagnnath Temple and Konark (The Sun Temple).
Overnight will be at Puri.
Day 14 Thursday: Puri - Bhubaneshwar

Have an early breakfast at the hotel.
Proceed to Bhubaneshwar and enroute visit Raghurajpur,
Pipli and Dhauli. Reach in time for flight
to Calcutta.
Reach and relax at hotel in Calcutta.
Day 15 Friday: Calcutta

Breakfast will be at the hotel.
Proceed for sightseeing tour of Calcutta visiting the
Kali Temple at Kalighat first. This is
the most famous Kali Temple in Calcutta and considered
very sacred by the followers.
In the evening enjoy the cruise on the Ganges and watch
the city of Calcutta as it was 250 years back. Nothing
much has changed here and your guide will give you an
insight into the culture and the life by the Ganges.
The port here used to be the main port for the British
when they ruled the country and the city was then the
capital of India. Relax in the evening.
Day 16 Friday: Calcutta
Breakfast will be at the hotel.
Proceed on an excursion of the Kumartuli, which
to every Bengali around the world is like "good old
days". All through the year thousands of artists work
on the clay idols of thousands of Gods and Goddesses
which are then finished and taken to the homes, temples
and make shift decorated tents for the "Puja". Here
you will see the idols in every stage - raw clay, the
basic structure, the finished structure, the part painted
ones, the completed ones and half finished ones. There
are families who are doing this for generations and
have confirmed orders years in advance from all over
the world.
Your guide will give the insight again as to the "clay"
used for the making of these idols and their importance.
Visit the famous families and their workshops.
In the evening end your stay in Calcutta with a special
dinner of Bengali cuisine at Aheli, which is
the most authentic Bengali Restaurant in town. Overnight
will be in Calcutta.
Day 17 Friday: Calcutta - Home
Breakfast will be at the hotel. Proceed to the international
airport for flight home with sweet memories of India.
